The Beginning

Northern Rivers Natives opened on the 1st July 2021 by Sally FitzGerald with the support and botanical assistance from her husband Lance. They have been growing native plants together since 1986, mainly concentrating on the rainforest species of northern NSW. Today the nursery is still collecting local rainforest seed from around the north coast of NSW, providing trees for landcare, bush regenerators, and landowners who wish to reforest their land.

Our Focus

As well as Rainforest species the nursery is growing from seed a small range of local eucalypts, concentrating on koala and timber trees, as well as other sclerophyll species including a range of sedges & grasses, wattles, melaleucas, callistemons, leptospermums and more. And lots & lots of Lomandras.

The nursery has expanded its range to include cutting grown ground covers & shrubs, providing food & habitat for birds, bees and other wildlife in smaller gardens.

Sally now has her friend Brigid helping with office & social media work and her friend Natalie with propagation. In Feb 2022 they opened a small retail shop on Tweed Valley Way in Mooball selling a wide range of natives as well as vege seedlings for home gardeners. Go Girls!!
